When Adam found out my favorite holiday was Earth Day, he did his best to celebrate it in a special way every year. One year we cleaned up a park together, another year we went to a huge festival, and another year we went on a camping trip! It only seemed natural that we would take a trip together into the mountains of Colorado last year.
We had been exploring Colorful Colorado for a few days when we found the most amazing state park the night before Earth Day. We decided to spend the night there to make sure we started the holiday with this gorgeous view.
I woke up to breakfast in bed with the most gorgeous landscape outside my window. We finished up our lazy morning and decided to head on down the road. We were driving along, enjoying the scenery when Adam sees something on the side of the road and pulls over.
There are “No Trespassing” signs everywhere, but Adam insists that he saw an old VW Bus inside the fence. Since it had always been my dream to own a vintage bus, we decided to try the buzzer.
Before we could get to the gate, it started to open! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. Adam grabbed me by the hand and pulled me inside. Once we passed through the fence, I couldn’t believe my eyes! There were old VW buses everywhere!!!
Adam pulled me over to the owner of the property and started talking to him like they had met before. They both head into a garage, and I follow behind ogling at all the VWs! Before I know it, we’re standing in front of a half-finished 1967 Split Window.
Before I could figure out what was happening, Adam turned to me and told me that he had already bought the bus… FOR ME! He asked me to marry him and I couldn’t believe it!
Of course I said yes! BEST EARTH DAY EVER!
We’ve since finished restoring our bus, who we’ve affectionately named Moose. I still can’t believe my dream came true. Adam later told me that he had been planning this proposal ever since he met me. I couldn’t have wished for a better day, or a better guy!
